AD & Sorry JayNari – Out the Hood

League of Starz members AD and Sorry JayNari drooped Last of The 80s with Out the Hood being one of the most popular standout tracks. I had never heard of the West Coast rapper before, but got an invitation to the album release party in Los Angeles and had a chance to witness the energy first hand. Although I really don’t like listening to albums at release parties (I’d rather listen to projects for the first time at home or in the car,) I did listen to the project right when it was available and was impressed and shocked I had never heard of AD before that night. Since moving to Los Angeles, I’ve become an even bigger fan of the West Coast sound, and AD and JayNine perfectly encompasses that unique essence throughout the project in a way that feels familiar, but not recycled – if that makes sense. While the track I have listened here is the standout single, one of the tracks on the project I remember the most outside of that one is Crip Lives Matter, that lets fans know that even though he has found success, there are certain elements of his experiences that he will never deny or escape. That is the vibe of the project, a relatable voice for the streets through the lens of his experiences.
