Sango x Smino – Khlorine

This is probably my favorite Smino song to date, and it comes compliments of Sango Beats and his new album In the Comfort Of. The St. Louis rapper and Seattle producer are a match made in heaven. Sango is definitely taking a less traditional approach to carving his lane in the music industry, being that he is a producer but structures his career like an artist – releasing/selling full projects/albums, releasing accompanying visuals, etc. These days producers are more visible than ever and have become the stars in their own right, and Sango is no different with his creations that are “influenced by American hip-hop music, southern, black gospel, 70s/80s soul, straightforward dance music, funk carioca, etc.” Smino has also been steady in his rise to the top, always growing into his sound more and more while respectable staying true to his mission to uplift and empower Black voices and culture. This is my favorite track on the project, and hopefully one that encourages anyone that hasn’t heard of either one of these two talented men to go delve a little deeper into their respective catalogues.
